Mark received his Ph.D in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied the control of allelic exclusion in antigen receptor genes. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Molecular Biology, he pursued market research in entrepreneurship, specifically assisting various technology start-up companies in projects ranging from royalty licensing issues to product development. Mark is also co-founder in two companies, one a software company and the other an e-commerce retailer. -

Cathy Turner
Ph.D. Director of ResearchCathy has diverse scientific interests in chemistry, molecular biology and biophysics. She holds a Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry from Yale University, where she worked in one of the leading laboratories studying the structure of the ribosome. Her doctoral work in structural biology focused on solution structure determination of a large ribosomal subunit protein using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. She holds a B.A. in chemistry from Middlebury College, where she studied the anticancer activity of platinum complexes. At Rubin/Anders she has been involved in projects spanning disciplines such as computer science, engineering, industrial design, medicinal chemistry, and others.

Ph.D. Research AnalystSantosha's interests span the areas of experimental characterization techniques of nanomaterials. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island in Physics. Her doctoral research focused on the characterization of singlewalled carbon nanotube networks obtained by dielectrophoresis. She holds a masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston. Her Masters research involved studying the interfaces between III-V semiconductor superlattices experimentally and theoretically using X-ray diffraction.

Ph.D. Research ConsultantCharles received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wyoming and completed post-doctoral studies at Washington State University, where he studied the structure and function of enzymes involved in lipid biosynthesis. He has experience in both basic research and project management in several large pharmaceutical and small biotechnology companies, and has managed pre-clinical and clinical stage cross-functional project teams involved in the development of drugs for treatment of cancer, Alzheimer's, pain, HIV and inflammation. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and has experience in review and editing of documents for submission to drug regulatory authorities.

She was general counsel of OrderTrust, Inc. in Lowell, MA, and an associate at Davis, Polk & Wardwell in New York City and at Goodwin, Proctor in Boston. Since 2001, Alesia has served a diverse array of clients in her private practice where she concentrates on corporate law, contracts and intellectual property. Prior to entering the law, Alesia received a B.A. in Journalism from Georgia State University and was an editor for a weekly newspaper. Alesia is also a writer focusing on professional articles and fiction.

Ph.D. Research AnalystMarc holds a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he remains as an adjunct assistant professor of toxicology. Marc's research has focused on understanding the physiological response of organisms exposed to low levels of stress. Marc is also a toxicology expert and has managed comprehensive chemical evaluations of consumer/medical products, and human health risk assessments. He is an author on over 50 publications, and has previously held positions as an active-duty military member, a research scientist and a government toxicologist.

She has conducted research at Massachusetts General Hospital/Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Anna has expertise in the development of novel drugs to treat type II diabetes and obesity. She also has a vast knowledge of all areas of pre-clinical pharmacology and drug development with experience in academia and the biopharmaceutical industry. Anna has over 15 publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented research at numerous international scientific meetings and symposiums.

Assistant Director of ResearchAmy received her law degree, magna cum laude, from New England School of Law in 1994, where she graduated second in her class of 199 and served on the New England Law Review. Following Amy's graduation from NESL, she began a judicial clerkship with the Massachusetts Superior Court, where she clerked for five years. Since 2001, Amy has worked as a contract attorney and has regularly prepared pleadings, motions and memoranda for complex cases venued in the United States Court of Federal Claims, Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the First Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Massachusetts District Courts, Superior Court and Appeals Court.

Client Manager and Research AnalystDavid received his MSEE from Texas Tech University with his thesis “Space-Variant Incoherent Optical Processing Using Color.” Upon graduation, he worked at Bell Labs designing the clock board and developing a performance test for the #5ESS. David has worked in a variety of fields, mainly for start-up companies, developing embedded processor systems and gaining the experience and knowledge to take products from concept through manufacturing, including project and team management. He taught courses at Texas Tech University and at Womens Technical Institute in Boston. His work includes designing an automatic gear-shift system for earth-moving machines, pen-shaped glucometers for diabetics, a pager buffer and a paging data transponder. He led NIH funded R&D projects on a Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emisions (DPOAE) device to measure hearing in neonates, a microphone-array headset hearing aid and a portable voice accumulator for analyzing disphonia, on which he was the PI.

Her dissertation focused on macronutrient selection in rats subjected to food deprivation and cold exposure and its relationship to levels of corticosterone and aldosterone. She has also worked as a Registered Dietitian. She received her M.A. from Syracuse University in Nutrition and her B.S. from Lehigh University in Fundamental Sciences. Her current research interests include: sports nutrition and food selection in pregnant and obese populations.

As a software engineer at Alpine Electronics, she designed and developed map file compilers, map file reduction techniques utilizing algorithmic graph theory, and optimizing routing displays for GPS automobile navigation systems. She graduating cum laude from New England School of Law, served on the New England Journal of Criminal and Civil Confinement, and was awarded a legal fellowship with the school after graduation. She was named 2008 Pro Bono Advocate of the Year by Alternatives for Community and Environment for her environmental justice work as Legal Fellow. She has worked as an immigration attorney since 2008, appearing regularly before the Immigration Court and on brief to the Board of Immigration Appeals and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. She is an adjunct professor of legal research and writing at New England School of Law.

Ph.D. Research AnalystGabrielle received her Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology, through the Indisciplinary Biomedical Sciences Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She conducted her doctoral work at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, in the field of cancer cell biology. Her research focus was elucidating the molecular mechanisms that underlie the regulation and function of the ARF-MDM2-p53 tumor suppressor pathway in normal and cancer cells. She co-established a company that runs educational health programs overseas, and also works as a scientific editor.

Additionally she has had experience in both clinical pathology and drug development environments. With a B.F.A. from the University of Michigan, Susan also works locally as a film actor.
