Founder & Co-Managing Director
Ron has been on the faculty in applied mathematics at MIT and a research scientist at the Weizmann Institute for Science in Israel. He also teaches in the graduate program in physics at Boston College. He has created award-winning machine-learning software in the education space and has lectured widely on educational development, including invited lectures at Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, and MIT. He was the keynote speaker at the UN conference on the rights of children held in Nazareth. His work in science and education has been published in leading journals including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Die Zeit, and El Pais. He received a Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard and B.A. Summa Cum Laude from Princeton.
Founder & Co-Managing Director
Richard is an investor and entrepreneur. He founded the legal software company Jurisoft, which he sold to Lexis/Nexis, published tech newspapers and is currently co-managing director of Rubin/Anders Scientific. He has invested in dozens of early-stage startups. Richard is a trustee of the Boston Museum of Science, a trustee of the Forsyth Institute and an overseer at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital and also the Gardner Museum. Richard founded and currently runs MA Medical Angels (MA2), one of the country’s leading angel groups focused exclusively on life sciences, and was the founder of the angel group Launchpad. Richard teaches medical device entrepreneurship at the Harvard/MIT HST program. He is a graduate Summa Cum Laude in Mathematics from Harvard and holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Senior Vice President of Research
Cathy leads the team of scientists, economists, and lawyers that identifies candidates for patent cases. She has diverse scientific interests in chemistry, molecular biology, and biophysics. She holds a B.A. in chemistry from Middlebury College and a Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry from Yale University. Cathy strives to present our clients with candidates who are excellent technically and who possess the qualities that make them great expert witnesses.
Vice President of Client Relations
Susanna joined Rubin/Ander in 2008. As the Director of Client Relations, she is responsible for the firm’s business development initiatives. She promotes client development through building long term partnerships with both established and prospective clients. Susanna’s objective is to be a valuable resource for the clients and companies she interacts with. Prior to joining Rubin/Anders, Susanna was a high performing Account Manger in the Corporate Relocation industry, assisting executives from leading pharmaceutical, financial and retail corporations worldwide. Susanna possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Siena College in Loudonville, New York.
Director of Client Relations
With experience both as a practicing lawyer and as a financial adviser with national firms, Craig's background is the reason why he is the first person with whom most of our non-patent clients have contact. His goals are to elicit key information that will assist our team in identifying outstanding expert candidates, to facilitate the client's engagement of experts, and to provide ongoing support for each client relationship.
Director of Client Retention
Christopher joined Rubin Anders with over 20 years in customer service and business development experience in the software industry. He has led successful sales teams ranging from small start-ups to an international software corporation. He serves as a client manager and looks to find new ways to improve customer experience. Christopher holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University and Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Syracuse University.
Scott joined Rubin/Anders following a considerable career as an entrepreneur, business owner, and financial consultant. He spent his early years working as a wealth manager and mutual fund wholesaler before he earned his MBA from Babson College. He serves as our client manager on the non-patent business segment and helps our team deliver first-class expert witness candidates. Scott’s experience in business and client management is a great asset for working on large cases that are urgent and demanding.
Kara Magid works with Rubin/Anders as a Client Manager. She works directly with our clients and assists them by determining their expert witness needs and delivering the best possible candidates. Kara received her B.S. in Communications from Boston University. With over 10 years of experience in account management, marketing and B2B relationship building, Kara’s skillset is a perfect match for our team.
Vice President of Research
Amy received her law degree, magna cum laude, from New England School of Law in 1994, where she graduated second in her class of 199 and served on the New England Law Review. Following Amy's graduation from NESL, she began a judicial clerkship with the Massachusetts Superior Court, where she clerked for five years. Since 2001, Amy has worked as a contract attorney and has regularly prepared pleadings, motions and memoranda for complex cases venued in the United States Court of Federal Claims, Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the First Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Massachusetts District Courts, Superior Court and Appeals Court.
Mark P.Sieh, Ph.D.
Director of Research
Mark is a member of the team that identifies candidates for patent cases. He holds an A.B. in biology from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mark assists in identifying and presenting expert witness candidates for patent cases.
Marisa provides administrative support to Rubin/Anders. Prior to her work at Rubin/Anders, she has been an executive assistant to senior-level managing partners in Boston-based companies. In that capacity, she handled numerous complex business needs, including investor relations for a real estate investment trust. She received her B.A. from Saint Anselm College.
Laura is a member of the research team who strives to identify experts with the specific fit for each case and for each client. She holds a B.A.in biochemistry from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and has published research in her field. She applies the research skills that she developed both in the lab and later as a scientific writer to search out excellent candidates from a wide range of fields.
Stephanie applies her broad experience in economic litigation support, research, and writing to her work as a research analyst. She is well versed in the technical and practical requirements of an expert, as well as the interests and needs of attorneys, having been a manager at a large economic consulting company, serving on numerous litigation support cases across a variety of industries. She has practiced research skills having earned a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University and a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College. Stephanie is also an accomplished author of more than ten articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Stephanie enjoys the challenge of working in a variety of industries, and identifying and presenting the best possible experts for each case.
Charles Bedord holds a B.S degree in political science, a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Wyoming, and has 25 years of research and development experience in the pharmaceutical industry in both large corporations and small start-up companies. Charles is located in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley and keeps up-to-date on both new computer and life-science technologies. He seeks to present our clients with witness candidates who are experts in cutting-edge science and engineering and can communicate in a clear and concise manner.
Lyn received a BS in chemical engineering and a BA in German from the University of Rhode Island's international engineering program and an MS in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia. With her analytical background and broad interests in science and technology, she is able to research and identify outstanding candidates in a wide range of fields.
As a research analyst, Susan applies the critical thinking and analytical skills developed during her academic training to finding the best expert consultants for our clients' needs. In addition to a background in bio-medical related research, with an M.S. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, she is experienced in locating experts within a wide range of fields and has satisfied requests for litigation support in areas such as mechanical engineering, industrial design and software development. She appreciates that litigation experience is frequently an important consideration in identifying appropriate experts and enjoys the challenge of difficult searches.
Nurazhani identifies specific expert witnesses for diverse types of cases. Her technical background in biomedical engineering and nanotechnology trains her well to pinpoint expert witnesses that meet clients’ requirements. She obtained her B.S in Biomedical Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and received her Ph.D. in Nanoengineering from the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering in Albany, NY. She has completed her Postdoctoral training in Vascular Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Nurazhani is driven to be an efficient and thorough analyst in finding high-quality experts for every case.
Lori Humphreys applies the skills she acquired as a practicing attorney to her research at Rubin Anders. She received her B.A. from Muhlenberg College in 1993, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1996, she received her J.D. from Catholic University, Columbus School of Law. At Catholic, she was a winner of the Miller Cup Moot Court Competition and a Member of the Vanderbilt Cup National Moot Court Team. As a practicing attorney, Lori's primary focus was family law. After working at several small law firms in Maryland, she became a Managing Attorney at Ayuda, Inc., a non-profit in Washington D.C. There she litigated complex family law matters and was appointed to serve on the D.C. Mayor's Commission on Violence Against Women. Most recently she worked as an instructor at The Domestic Violence Institute at Northeastern University School of Law. Lori applies her depth of understanding of the legal system and her strong research and interpersonal skills to every project, determined to find exemplary experts for our clients.
Sidra Vitale heads the team that surveys ongoing litigation to identify individual expert needs and global litigation trends. She holds a B.S. in physics with a concentration in astrophysics from the University of California at Irvine, and a J.D. from New England Law|Boston, where she teaches legal research and writing. She prides herself on bringing every aspect of her multidisciplinary career in physics, software development, litigation, and teaching to bear to find cases requiring that premier expert only Rubin/Anders can provide.
Client Support Coordinator
Jessica supports our sales team by performing internet research as well as maintaining our extensive client database with daily updates to ongoing patent cases. She comes to Rubin/Anders with a substantial background as a client manager, working several years in charge of Quality Control for a local data processing company. She has handled a broad range of responsibilities including project management, technical writing and staff management. Prior to this, Jessica earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Sujatha, a Rubin Anders research specialist, strives to identify experts with the most relevant expertise for each case. With a Ph.D. in Biotechnology, her research experience in science and technology equips her with the ability to find the right expert candidates.
Louise has a B.A. in political science from Amherst College and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Louise seeks out highly qualified experts that are best suited to support clients’ specific needs. She works on a diverse array of cases identifying the best experts and getting projects underway.
Danielle comes to Rubin/Anders with an extensive background in client project and program management, specializing in technical, creative and editorial service content needs. Her role at Rubin/Anders focuses on account and business development support via case review, research and data integrity. Prior to this role, Danielle has handled a broad range of client facing responsibilities that include general project management and strategic consulting, budget analysis and forecasting, business development and staff management for various Boston advertising and communications consulting agencies. She holds a B.S. from Boston College.
Cathy joined the Rubin Anders research team after earning her J.D. and many years working in state government agencies, as well as with the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She enjoys the challenge of finding excellent expert candidates to meet our clients’ needs.
Nicholas received a B.S. in Biochemistry from Lehigh University and an M.S. in Chemistry from Rochester Institute of Technology. He has a broad range of technical interests including the fields of analytical, organic, and polymer chemistries. His academic background combined with a wealth of practical industry experience make him adept at identifying expert witness candidates in a variety of technical areas.
